8-Week Meditation & Mindfulness Series


Led by: Michelle Gauvin, LMT, MA eled

Completion of 8 week MBSR Course UMass Memorial Medical Center & First level of Transcendental Meditation Practice


Join us this Spring for an 8-week small group meditation & mindfulness series. Each week we will discover different styles of meditation, discuss the many aspects of mindfulness in our daily lives, and have group discussion on the subtleties of karma.

Why Meditate?

In a world filled with constant distractions, our minds are pinging all over the place, literally being trained to stay busy, engaged, and ON all the time with:


• non-stop notifications on our phones, tablets or computers

• "instant gratification" at the tip of our fingers or the press of a button


This keeps us in our sympathetic nervous system -- fight or flight mode -- which leads to increased cortisol (aka stress) levels, that when remain chronically high can wreak a ton of havoc on our bodies and minds.

Having the ability to slow our thoughts and choose what you invest your mental time and energy into can be a game-changer.

Our minds think! They do this on their own, naturally. But adding to their "normal" busyness with all the additional external stimuli out there now-a-days is not only unnatural but also unhealthy. We weren't built to be constantly stimulated. Our bodies and minds need to rest.


Meditation & mindfulness practices can help! 


Meditation, which is the practice of training your mind to slow down and focus on the present moment, helps:

- Reduce stress & anxiety

- Increase mental calmness & clarity 

- Improve quality of sleep

- Enhance mind-body connection 

- Increase self-awareness

- & so much more

Mindfulness is similar, involving non-judgmental, moment-by-moment awareness of your environment -- both internal and external.

By observing the sensations in your body, the thoughts in your mind, and the sounds around you with curiosity and kindness, you can


- Better manage stress & your emotions

- Improve your sense of well-being

- Deepen your mind-body connection

- Develop (more) compassion for yourself

- Experience self-acceptance and self-love

- & the list goes on

We are offering meditation and mindfulness in the group setting because studies have shown how important human contact and connection are.

MORE ABOUT YOUR GUIDE

Michelle Gauvin, LMT, MA eled

Michelle is a 59-year old massage therapist, wife, mom, cat mom, gardener, athlete, reader, gym rat, traveler, and meditator. She began pursuing mindfulness education in 2018 which ultimately led to practicing meditation. Both have been very transformative for her and she finds joy in sharing them with others.


Michelle has completed an 8-week MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) Course at UMass Memorial Medical Center & her First level of Transcendental Meditation Practice

HOSTED BY JG FITNESS & PERFORMANCE ANNEX • 7704 POST ROAD

The JG Fitness & Performance ANNEX location is in the same plaza as our training studio, located in the north building, directly next to Chief Mowers & U-haul.
