I started working out with Julia the summer before my senior year in high school during the height of the college lacrosse recruiting season for my class. From the beginning Julia impressed me with her focus on good form, a strong core, flexibility, and responding to how your body feels. I came to her with most parts of my body being extremely tight and a weak core that hid behind the strength of my legs for most of my life. She immediately recognized these flaws and concentrated both stretches and exercises to strengthen the small muscles that were causing me issues.
Before long, I felt the effects of our work loosening all my tight joints and felt my core begin to tighten up and be active on a daily basis. However, I was plagued by a recurring injury of tightness and pain in my hip flexor. This came to a head during that summer due to the volume of lacrosse I was playing. As it worsened, Julia helped by adding stretches, foam rolling and p-knot rolling strategies, and exercises to strengthen but not challenge or injure the hip. When it got to the point that I would need some sort of treatment, Julia recommended me to a physical therapist who was absolutely great. The two of them were able to work in conjunction to keep my legs moving for the rest of the summer so I did not have to miss the height of the recruiting season. As a result, I ended up getting several offers to play Division 3 lacrosse.
When the school year started, Julia was able to supplement what was being done at practice with her own work, while also helping me to rehab any small injuries during the seasons. During the soccer season, I found that people were bouncing off of me more than I had noticed before, and my lateral movements were much quicker. During basketball season, I found myself successfully boxing out players that had at least 50 pounds over me.
My development truly shone during the lacrosse season. Along with my better laterals, quickness, and strength, I had developed much more confidence as an athlete. In past, I relied on my technical skills to bring me success, which never got me as far as I could have gone. After working out with Julia I was able to lean on my body as well as my technical skills and found more success than I ever could have without that confidence.
The year before I would have never seen myself being the one that the whole team relies on when there are 3 seconds left in a first-goal-wins overtime of my senior game, much less actually succeeding in that situation. This year, I was that player and succeeded in those situations. I averaged over 5 goals a game and over 3 assists, and earned Player of the Year in our conference, the SENE. I was also named a Rhode Island All-State athlete.
I am still working with Julia after my senior year as she helps me prepare to try and walk-on to a Division 1 lacrosse team in the fall. Now, Julia continues to adapt to my needs and has developed different training programs to further boost my explosiveness and quickness while helping me develop a cardio and nutrition plan for when I am not training with her. Thank you, Julia!
After having knee surgery I began to work with Julia to rebuild my muscle strength. Not only did I want to gain strength back in my leg but the rest of my body as well. I also work with her for injury prevention. Since I began working with Julia I have noticed an incredible difference in the strength throughout my body and I have been able to exercise and play sports better than ever. Even on days that I'm feeling sore or I'm dealing with minor injuries, Julia always finds a way to modify my routine. She also gives me extra time to stretch and get whatever it is that's bothering me back to normal.
Another thing I've been working on with Julia is nutrition. I have learned more about the basic food groups and how to make my meals and snacks healthier but still delicious! Julia has also hosted a cooking demo where we cooked and tried out some new recipes to get different ideas for healthy, easy meals. I highly recommend working with Julia to help you with any of your fitness needs. She is an amazing person and coach and she has helped me to improve my personal fitness in many different ways.
A WORD FROM HER MOTHER
Maggie began playing soccer when she was 5 years old. By the time she was 12 she had developed a severe case of osteochondritis dessicans of the knee. She had a significant knee surgery just after beginning 7th grade that required extended time on crutches and kept her out of sports for almost a full year. After she finished her post-surgery PT, we started her training with Julia as a way for her to regain her strength and stability and to correct some major imbalances due to her injury and reliance on crutches for so many months. At that time, we weren’t sure if she would ever be able to play soccer again.
Fortunately, she was able to start playing again in 8th grade for her middle school team as well as her competitive team. Her goal was to stay injury free and make the varsity team as a freshman in high school, and to continue playing on one of the top competitive teams in the region. She has continued to train with Julia and has made excellent progress on her strength, stability, and mental resilience, both on and off the soccer field. She is shorter and younger than many of the girls she plays against, but is able to compete against them because of her strength that she has improved through her training with Julia.
With a nutritionist for a mother, Maggie knew what she “should” be eating, but getting her to do it was a different story. Julia’s emphasis on proper nutrition and hydration was a big help in getting Maggie to drink significantly more water and make consistently better choices for her meals and snacks. Maggie is getting ready to start her sophomore year in high school and as long as she is playing competitive sports, she will continue to train with Julia. It has truly helped to bring out the best in her physically and mentally to help her reach her goals and hopefully keep her injury free so she can enjoy playing the sport that she loves and set her up for a lifetime of being healthy and fit. Thanks Julia!

I started working with Julia in the spring of my 7th grade year just after I had pulled my right hamstring. From the beginning, I was amazed with what Julia knew - from exactly how flexible to be with my program and my body day by day to consistently delivering a program that would help every part of my body get stronger. Also, as a young female soccer player, I loved that Julia played collegiate soccer and knew exactly what I needed to do in order meet the goals I had for myself.
She immediately began working with what my body needed to get stronger. Not too long after I started with her, I felt my body getting stronger and more flexible. That was until I faced a knee injury that put me out for another 4 months. She knew I had a history of knee problems, and she put a lot of focus on keeping my knees healthy while helping me get stronger. Unfortunately, I have something called Osgood Schlatter’s disease, and knee injuries aren’t something that training can prevent. During that time, I kept in contact with Julia, and soon enough I was able to get back into training with her and work on getting stronger again. And stronger I got! She helped me set new goals, and with her coaching, I exceeded ALL of them, including earning a spot on the girls varsity soccer team my freshman year of high school! Julia even took time out of her days to come watch us play.
I have been training with Julia since then and have continued to make progress despite having to endure two additional knee surgeries last year. With Julia's help though, I was ready for my fall season as a Junior after my surgery in June and have been consistently making strength breakthroughs since my surgery in November. I have to say, it feels good to feel great about my body!
The past 4 years working with Julia, I have noticed the immense amount of strength I have gained as well as finding my love for doing what’s best for my body. She has taught me what foods are best for me and how to work with my body in the best ways possible, no matter the conditions I'm faced with. I highly recommend working with Julia, as she’s not only a great coach, but also an awesome person. She’s inspired me and helped me in so many ways!
I worked with Julia after finishing my freshman year in high school. I am a field hockey and lacrosse player hoping to play at the college level. During my freshman season of lacrosse I had some issues with my shoulder in a game and went for physical therapy, where they told me I had subluxated my shoulder and they felt I should be doing some extra work with a trainer for both shoulders.
My cousin mentioned she would be working with a trainer that summer, so I contacted Julia as well and began working not only on strengthening my shoulder, but also on some of the objectives I have for lacrosse which include speed, strength and basically working on faster foot movements, etc. Julia worked with me two or three times a week and I felt stronger and faster from a standing start. When checked out post the summer by my physical therapist, I was good to go for the season! I felt much more stable as a runner and dodger during this current field hockey season and feel like my shoulders can take more pressure when being checked during some of my recent lacrosse tournaments.
Overall, I would recommend working with Julia to any one who is either looking for improvements in general or working on a specific injury and coming back stronger from that injury. Julia was easy for me to work with, pushing me, but fun and also always changing things up, so while challenged, I didn’t hate going. Actually, I enjoyed it! Also, Julia payed attention to what I really wanted to improve. I was proud of myself after working with her and felt accomplished in achieving my goals. It was also great to work with a woman trainer as I felt Julia’s level of athleticism and fitness was something I could aspire to as a young woman.
I was introduced to Julia through two teammates on my soccer team who had worked with her the previous year. I could see the difference in their play during the season. They had become much stronger and more durable players who could withstand playing at the highest level. Once I decided to stop playing basketball, I too reached out to Julia to improve my overall strength and to work on injury prevention for soccer.
Now after having the privilege to work with Julia for a little under a year, I have seen the huge changes and improvements in myself as a soccer player. On the field, I feel much more powerful, capable, and confident due to the strength I now have throughout my body.
Every experience that I have had with Julia has been educational in some aspect, from learning how to properly stretch and exercise to having a healthy lifestyle that includes the proper nutrition.
Each and every session Julia has provided a personalized workout, adapting the program to meet my individual needs. Whenever something in my body is sore or bothering me in training, she takes the time to thoroughly address it until I am feeling back to normal.
Julia also worked with me on nutrition. It was important to me to check how healthy my current eating habits were and to make small adjustments to have a healthier lifestyle that included the right nutrition for my sport. She was able to suggest a handful of great meals and snacks which have been very tasty.
Julia is an amazing coach and such a wonderful person. Your expectations will never be let down when it comes to her. I most definitely recommend working with her to help improve your fitness, nutrition, and performance and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
As a soccer player, I came to Julia to work on strengthening and also to prevent injuries that occur from being an athlete. Throughout my sessions with her, I have not only learned how to stretch and exercise correctly, but also how to set up my day with the right nutrition. Because of Julia, I have become a stronger, more agile soccer player. She has helped to relieve my hamstring and hip pain so that I can play at the highest level. Sessions are always fun and highly personalized, always accommodating my individual needs.
A WORD FROM HER MOTHER
My daughter Lauren is a 16-year-old soccer player who has been working with Julia for over two years. Julia truly brought her training to the next level. Before she started training her strength was focused on her lower body and now she possesses a balanced whole body strength that allows her to be a more explosive defender on the field. I love knowing she is strengthening individual muscles to prevent injury (specifically ACL). In addition, Julia takes the time to get to know her clients. She knows when my daughter needs extra rolling/stretching, or needs to talk about school/soccer games. As a parent, I am happy my daughter has an amazing trainer who helps to increase her confidence on and off the field.
