I left my twenties with two bad knees, a torn shoulder labrum, two herniated discs in my low back, and a failed attempt to play professional sports. The decade of my thirties proved that I was no longer a young athlete as I could barely stand for prolonged periods without pain in my body. After following traditional physical therapy protocols and failing epidural injections, I had given up on the idea that I would be able to have a normal life without daily pain in my spine. Then one day, a fortunate stroke of serendipity led me to the company of Julia Girman.
I accepted her challenge to focus on the core of my body strength, which had been in complete neglect due to fear of injury or worsening pain. After ten sessions of training with Julia I was given a new lease on life. I was able to become more active at the exercise club again. For instance, I was able to engage in the both dumbbell and barbell squats, an exercise which previously caused pain in my spine due to lack of core stability. Now, I spring up out of my chair effortlessly and without pain due to the added strength in my body.
I am also engaging in leisure sports again with improved performance and significantly less painful after effects. Golf and skiing are now outdoor activities and I can return to with confidence. And through the whole process of training with Julia, I lost several pounds of unwanted body weight. I couldn't be more pleased with the investment I made with Julia, and I can't thank her enough for what she has done for me. I often refer my patients with similar experiences and problems to Julia as I know that they will be in good hands.
